
BRIEF: To choose an existing product, and through market research, update the brand and packaging to drive better sales.
Whilst studying my Bachelor of Graphic Design at the University of Canberra, I was given the project to select and existing product and through market research, update the brand and packaging. Naturally, as I was a student at the time, I chose my go-to cheap meal product – Indomie Mi Goreng
The current packaging of Mi Goreng is convoluted, and not designed for a western market. The brand has a cult following in Australia, and I thought that if it the product was updated with the target audience of students in mind, that sales could be increased.
I created a noodle-box design, for easy microwaving (perfect for lazy students!), as well as a range of box designs for the variety of flavours.
I also came up with the marketing campaign idea of ‘How do you goreng’ – asking buyers to share how they tweak the Mi Goreng product with extra ingredients via social media.
